Beauty Queen of Iraq in 1947
This is a picture of Renee Dangoor, Beauty Queen of Iraq
in 1947. The beautiful Iraq in the forties was a rose wanting
to flower on a beautiful life, wanting to grow in a period
without restrictions and no backward imagination. It was
a country, every time they wanted it to go backwards, would
break the chains and reappear grasping the trees, the birds,
the olives, the pollen, the dates and the oranges.
Renee Dangoor, a beautiful Iraqi woman burst out from that
far away period and appeared to us through that archival
picture.
